Dehong Five Clouds Temple is called ¡°zanghan¡± in Dai language, which means the gold temple. It is situated in the west side of northward Hongqi Street in Mangshi. It is said that it was built in the 4th year of Emperor Kangxi (1665), is the first Buddhist temple in Mangshi. The first statue of Buddha ¡°Pala Guomeng¡± was brought into the temple from Myanmar by native chieftain Fang Dingzheng, is regarded as the treasure by the people.
¡¡¡¡Five Clouds Temple wins the name for there were five big green trees outside the temple and filled with egrets in the crown of these trees playing and soaring like five white clouds.
¡¡¡¡The gold pagoda was founded inside, called ¡°gongmuhan¡± in Dai language. The temple and the gold pagoda were destroyed in the anti-Japanese war and were repaired all later.
¡¡¡¡A tall and solemn statue of Buddha erected in the middle of the hall. Between the columns, Buddhist streamers and Buddhist umbrellas with embroidered decoration are hanged, presenting the folk art works of the Dai. 8 small towers circled the main tower and each had a niche of Buddha with a small statue of Buddha in.
¡¡¡¡This temple is a Buddhist temple that has the longest history of Gairun sect and largest scale and most protected cultural relics, also is the earliest temple of the Hinayana building.
Another fascinated thing is that beside the five clouds temple is a gathering of Dehong local Dai¡¯s cuisine, so that you can taste the authentic foods of the Dai after you enjoying the beautiful scenery.
